Internet – a remedy for the desperates? - Benn - 06-03-2008

I feel that when I’m chatting within this forum and on other web-sites I feel myself more comfortable, it’s like a remedy for me to expose my feelings and my opinion. I feel proud when I am advocating an idea of mine. I think it gives me a moral support? How about you, do you feel satisfaction?

Chatting and communicating in different forums is definitely enjoyable but it's not because I'm desperate! :geek:
I just like doing it...

Sure we enjoy chatting with any people, we achieve experience and listen to different stories etc. It's fun

Re: Internet – a remedy for the desperates? - Steven - 06-13-2008

that's correct, but it can become an obsession or something and you may be dependent on it

Re: Internet – a remedy for the desperates? - Terry - 07-04-2008

it can't become an obsession if we keep control over it. We should make a clear difference between the virtual and the real world.

Re: Internet – a remedy for the desperates? - Benn - 07-06-2008

it's in our subconscioussness, and it can't be controlled by us, it's controlled by external factors. People use computers instead of going out for a stroll and relax.

Watch what happens if you stay too much in front of the computer:

I noticed that my relations with my friends are becoming more distant because of the internet. Yes, we use to chat to each other on the Internet, but when we meet, there we feel like strangers you know...

Re: Internet – a remedy for the desperates? - Terry - 07-17-2008

I think people don't use to understand each other neither on-line, nor in live talks. Chatting is very good, but don't forget to know your limit, since this is similar to alcohol or drugs.

Actually not only the internet is a virtual world. Virtual world also includes - letters, books, magazines other sources of information.
The issue is how deep we are involved in this world.

books are less "dangerous than the internet". When reading a book you can't press a link to pass to read more about something, while internet swallows you because it's almost unlimited, like the universe.

I agree Terry. But if you are careful at these words, you will understand that this is also a disadvantage of books :?

Internet is an entire encyclopedia!!!! But, we need to keep children away from certain web-sites.

Terry, you know the point. I agree with you.
But I would like to add that internet was and is a next generation for our history.

When our parents were young, they couldn't imagine something like the internet. We are now in their situation, because we can't imagine what new things might be invented in the future. Therefore, something much stronger than the internet could be invented.

Along fame comes a lot of things, and one can easily be addicted to what comes with.
If you’re starting a business, naturally you’d want to be popular, and if by an off chance, you do get popular, obviously you’re going to earn heaps.
That applies to people in social media very much. And not only that, fame also fuels self esteem and confidence.
People are hungry for attention (I’m not saying all because there is a significant few that pays no mind to that) because along with it comes a rain of other benefits as well.
(Note that there’s also a downside to fame, but I won’t be shedding it light here)
