Be careful - Steven - 05-22-2008

Everyday more and more people’s full personal details are available on the internet “black market”. It can be bought for about 20 euros. Big companies can less and less guarantee confidentiality to their clients.

Re: Be careful - Andrewz - 05-23-2008

so what do we do? seize living?

Re: Be careful - Terry - 05-29-2008

certain websites which want you to enter your email may sometimes disclose your personal information

Re: Be careful - Benn - 06-18-2008

This is the spams' mission! To attract you, and if they can't they try to steal information about your ip, location etc. and consequently send a trojan to your computer and ramble your personal information

Re: Be careful - Faw_Peter - 06-20-2008

In order to avoid such things happen, a computer must be integrally protected by security softwares, antiviruses etc.
Sometimes firewalls can make your computer load longer, but instead you are safe

Re: Be careful - LION - 06-21-2008

Yeah,we should all have good firewalls and antiviruses, don't open spam messages or copy unknown or suspect files ;-)

Re: Be careful - Faw_Peter - 06-23-2008

recently, on a bittorrent webpage I found FOR FREE the names and personal details about high officials from Moscow. This is a very good information for blackmailers.

Re: Be careful - M.Helen - 06-24-2008

it's ok when we speak about the officials' confidential information, 'cause most of them are corrupted and it wouldn't be bad if people know what cars they have, how many dwells etc.
But if a common citizen's information is revealed he may lose a lot of things, even if he is an honest and respectful citizen.

Re: Be careful - Terry - 06-26-2008

I don't know, but antiviruses don't always protect me against any virus. We have to install 2 or three of them in order to be protected indeed

Re: Be careful - Benn - 07-01-2008

just don't surf porno sites and you'll be safe. Smile

Re: Be careful - Steven - 08-28-2008

oh come on Benn. This is not the only source you can catch a trojan or virus that would swallow the information from your computer. The files you download from any sites may not be secured. You never know unless you have a good antivirus software

I don't believe that it costs that cheap. Such info would cost thousands or even millions..

Re: Be careful - Benn - 10-27-2008

I once have been blackmailed by Nigerians scammers. This is because I probably filled a webpage that pop-upped in front of me and said I was the 1 million-the visitor of their website.

Re: Be careful - willyoumind - 10-27-2008

Remember not to give away your credit card information to anyone else, unless you're buying certain products through the phone or website! I bet we all don't want to be the next victim of identity theft...

Re: Be careful - Steven - 10-27-2008

Not even buying from websites makes you safe. Remember that there are a lot of phantom-websites which today may offer something to buy and when you do, the next day you find no sign of that site.

What did you mean when you wrote blackmailed?
I know abut Nigerian scams, but blackmailing...

Blackmail is the crime of threatening to reveal substantially true information about a person to the public, a family member, or associates unless a demand made upon the victim is met.

Better install Linux and you will forget about all this nonsense with anti virus software.

Re: Be careful - Terry - 10-30-2008

set your browser not to allow pop-up windows. Pop-up windows are usually those having advertising/scamming purposes.

Re: Be careful - willyoumind - 11-04-2008

If you're scared to be the next victim of identity theft, then you should buy a Mac and install the computer with the Linux! This combination to be known as the safest methods to prevent 99% of the credit card fraud.

Re: Be careful - Steven - 11-04-2008

I can't really see any connection between electronic system frauds and credit cards. What did you mean? The Mac and Linux can only protect your computer data, and not credit cards data.
