I'm travelling to Germany at the end of September but I can only fly to Frankfurt. What is the cheapest way to travel to Bochum and vice versa? The high-speed train seems rather expensive.

Any help would be appreciated, especially if it's from locals. Thanks

did you check www.bahn.de ?
If you buy your trein ticket online and early, its much cheaper with the trein, but it also depends on which weekday you travel. Also you dont have to use the highspeed treins, slower connections are cheaper.
