How do I travel between Mons Belgium and Gap France?

Postby IonaRGreene » 25 Jan 2011, 01:12

I would like to know if there is public transportation (bus, rail, etc.) between these two cities.

I travelled as a child by train from Nice to Mons. Only one change of trains in Paris. If you could get to Avignon or Valence you would have no problems connecting. My french is not good enough to go browsing through french sites though. Maybe if you ask in France section how to get from Gap to either of the above towns you can fit the pieces of the jigsaw together?

Edit: According to the link posted below it looks like you can go Gap to Paris, change trains at Paris and get connecting train to Mons

the easiest way should be to
- first get from Gap to Aix-en-Provence
- take the TGV from Aix-en-Provence to Brussels (about 6 hours)
- then take the train from Brussels to Mons (about 45 minutes)

to plan your trip, check http://plannerint.b-rail.be/bin/query.exe/en?L=b-rail& and http://www.b-rail.be/nat/E/

I would think about incorporating Lille - Marseille with Ryanair into this journey. Lille is easy to get to from Mons - Marseille airport has a rail connection.

The air ticket is under Euro 50 each way.
