HOW CAN I GET TO KNOW MYSELF?

How can I get to know myself? And when I will know this?
The answer is: "you have to discover yourself". Self discovery is the discovery of your path in life. Namely that path, which will bring you real joy. And when you self discover yourself, you will get to know yourself. Why is self discovering so important? You may find the answer in the following Jerry Gills' words: "You will recognize your own path when you come upon it, because you will suddenly have all the energy and imagination you will ever need".

So the identifying marks, showing that you discovered yourself, are the abundance of energy and imagination that will overflow you, while you follow that particular discovered path. But there is also one very important identifying mark of self discovery, which accompany the first two. And this is self acceptance. Not any kind of acceptance, but that acceptance which indicates your success in life. This is very well phrased by Ben Sweet: "The greatest success, is successful self acceptance". This means that your works may be great and wonderful, but if you didn't come to a successful self acceptance, you still may be unhappy. For instance, a celebrity Hollywood actor and actress, could still be unhappy, regardless to their fortune. The whole world could accept them as famous ones. But this doesn't matter, if they didn't accept themselves as successful people. And I am not talking about their Hollywood smiles and show off display of happiness. I am talking about the state of their mind, when they are one on one with themselves.

So the third factor, - successful self acceptance, - is so important in recognizing the event of self discovery.
And when you come to that point in your life of successful self discovery, you feel beyond any doubts:"Now I know myself".

Thank you Igor for a very interesting article.
I did heard about self-discovery. Many speak about that, but no one knows exactly what is the topic's subject. It is very abstract and difficult to understand. Can't tell exactly why...
Maybe because the world holds very few people who discovered themselves indeed. I am not so old, yet not too young. So I am trying to find my shelter in this life. Not too much success have I gained in this sense.
There are people who discover themselves at their old age, even few days before dying. Some die without even doing that.
Can you give an advice on how to accelerate the coming of self-discovering moment?

it sounds funny, but sometimes I feel my friends know better than me what I want. They can easily lift my mood, so that I don't need anything else.

The path to self discovery is not simple. How to accelerate it?

Try to help a certain person with something that you are doing the best.
Do this with lots of love. Don't forget: that person could be you yourself!
