FC Porto Removed From Champions League 2008-2009

FC Porto removed from Champions League 2008-2009

Postby Terry » 05 Jun 2008, 08:00

Because of a bribery scandal FC Porto will not be playing in the following season of Champions League. UEFA based their decision on the art 1 of Champions League arrangement which says "a club must not be or have been involved in any activity aimed at arranging or influencing the outcome of a match at national or international level."
Their success in the last season was fake

they deserved that. Any team, regardless of their class must be punished. Rules are equal for everyone.

UEFA court decided to cancel this decision if the Portuguese football federation is not against that. It wasn't and consequetly the decision had been cancelled.

The Portuguese federation wasn't against that because it also participated in the bribe scandal, that's for sure, there are people there who were interested in this outcome.

Last year, Juventus was also excluded by the UEFA in participating in the 1st division of the country's championship. But, unfortunately the decision hasn't been revised.

I won't say that was a bad decision. Peaple who destroy the valueas of the real football, should be punished in a more sever way.

Being disqualified from such an event is already a good lesson for them, believe me.
