Yes, this is a great event. It's only once in 5 years, that's why we have no right to miss it. Generally, this year is the year of sports - EURO 2008, Beijing 2008!
Good for sport fans! :super
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

Why are you saying that? What about EU countries? As far as I know there is no barrier for them in participating in Beijing 2008 competition.

He means that the greatest winning potential is behind those countries, and I sure agree with that. Just think, even mathematically the probability for a good sportsman to be born in one of the listed countries by willyoumind is bigger than in other countries that are smaller. However I remember small countries to deliver surprises along years, like Nadia Comaneci from Romania, I still remember that.

Personally I will follow tennis. A lot of intrigue jumps around this sport. Four years ago I didn't used to follow tennis tournaments, so now it will be for the first time when I will be watching tennis as an Olympic game!

Actually I wanted to go to Beijing this year, but my wife doesn't allow me because she's afraid an earthquake could happen again in China.

Not that expensive. But I saw a news flash by the end of July, and it said the last ticket for the opening ceremony was sold for 19.000$ at an auction: lol:

Today an English reporter told that the fireworks that we saw LIVE during the opening ceremony were computer-rendered, and pre-recorded on a tape .

I wouldn’t be upset about this, but I was totally shocked, to see a poor show of fireworks, from a country that invented this stuff. I remember well watching the Athens and it was more beyond this.

Yep, and thanks for the clarification, Karl...

The game has been started over three days, China and America are still leading in the medal list, and it's quite a surprise that the Russia didn't even won a gold medal until now...

Today China won all the possible golden medals in track and field athletics . Romania, which earlier used to show excellent results, took the 7th place.

There will be no all-Williams sisters final in Beijing as both Serena and Venus were knocked out at the Olympic Tennis Centre.

how is it possible? I mean these sportsmen are trained to avoid such things. Security is learned in the first two years of a sportsman activity.
