Europe Is Now Safer

Re: Europe is now safer

nationalism can only bring happiness to nationalists, or to potential nationalists. They usually have the feeling of being the best and the rest of communities inside their country is inferior to them. It makes them happy.

nationalism brings to fascism. These words are not far from each other. An exceeded nationalism converts to fascism. Prove me wrong

Fascism uses nationalism by playing on feelings of superiority over others. It also dignifies militarism as the greatest way to prove superiority, and war - as an acceptable and desirable way for fulfilling national aims. People feel good about themselves if they can forget their issues and problems by immersing themselves in an apparently invincible nation.

that's exactly what I'm talking about.
Any country has its nationalists, but unfortunately these nationalists sometime turn into fascists, and thereby each country has its own fascist organisation.

yes, fascist organization are dangerous even for the local citizens. They promote ideas which, if are heard by children, can change their concept from the very childhood.

a good movie about how fascists influence children is "American history X". My recommendation.

Let's hope none of it refers to ours. In my opinion in Italy racism still persists. What do think?

Maybe a little conceptions among very narrow circle of people. But I wouldn't call this racism, this is their tiredness if foreigners. But they have good living conditions, and this is it.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

The racism still persist in all Europe. What do you think about discrimination of gypsies and niggers from Africa?
Do you allow your kids playing games with these children? :evil

I would not allow my children to play with a Gypsy child, but, as for African immigrants, I think there's nothing bad in that.

I would allow both of the children to play with my child. Why not? If children of these nations don't get in touch with other children, they will be just as their grandparents did (discriminated).

The are other many things to make a child be aware of. In order your children are safe, you should tell them not to trust to strangers.

I agree Peter, that would be a correct education, but, still, not too efficient. Why? Because children are children, if that stranger offers them an icecream they are ready to follow him as far as required.

that's why children should be taught from 2-3 years, at kindergartens about what they must not do in certain situations. Not all the information will remain in their mind, however they will think more before making an unreasonable step.

You would speak another way if you lived in a country where people don't trust each other and when it's dangerous to leave a child go even to school, as you never know what may happen to him.

oh yes you can Peter. I am a mother and I know what I'm saying. I spend 90% of my time with my child. When she was 1 year I used to spend 10000% of my time. Parents who love, will understand me.

Today Spanish police caught four members of ETA - three men and four women. They had plenty of arms and explosives and were expected to make a terrorist act in the Navarra region.

Actually, we have some serious social problems in the UK. Children are being driven to school rather than being allowed to walk or catch a bus, which is bad for both their physical and mental health. In some areas, children are too inept to buy somthing from a shop, catch a bus, or make conversation wth someone, because they have spent their whole lives being over-protected. Experts are worried that we will have a generation of people with no social skills or common sense!

Indeed, I went to university with people who did not know how to cook, use a knife, or open a can of beans!!!

Besides, most child abuse is conducted by a family friend, not a stranger. There was a large campaign in the 80s to teach children not to speak to strangers, but they would happily go home with a "nice" uncle or neighbour...

I agree with you Becka. What we have now is an unpredictable future because of an unpredictable generation. Young people are becoming too much uni-lateral and if they know something, they know it only in one sector.
On the other hand, there is an advantage in the fact children are driven to school. They are protected indeed and their parents can feel freely.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."
