Reincarnation – Myth Or Reality?

Reincarnation – myth or reality?

Postby Steven » 31 May 2008, 13:03

Reincarnation (according to Collins dictionary) - embodiment of a soul in a new body after it has left the old one at physical death. What do you think about this guys? Can it be true? I mean if it was, then killing animals, even for food, is a sin, cause it has soul.

Yes, because animals have souls. But on the other hand, religions allow to kill animal for food, that's why a little confusion here...
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

Reincarnation must be a myth. I don't think that after death, our soul finds another body to live in.

It is the mind, the power of memory. It is a kind of energy force. When you do something, you create a form of energy that is invisible to your physical eyes. This energy creates a pattern that the soul experiences in this world, your ups and downs, etc. And after a long period of time, the soul identifies itself with this pattern instead of realising that it is free from this pattern.

it's very easy just just to say "myth", what about arguments? No, I'm not asking you to bring me an animal and make him tell he ain't got a human soul :) But... something?

I think we have a body and a soul,... after the body death, the soul goes somewhere...(hell or heaven), not in other body -animal or human. (This is my faith!) The Indians believe in reincarnation. I told you I'm a Christian. :)

maybe when the bible said "hell or heaven" it meant that the sole will go to a body that will have a sad or, respectively, happy life? It might be metaphorical

I guess you are reincarnated only in case you don't realize the things you are supposed to, in your life.If you do, you go to heaven...

Maybe it's possible, until I am not reincarnated I won't believe it :-)

take a look from another point of view - we didn't exist, and now we exist... why can't we intrude this world again after the death? It's possible!
And before our current life, probably, we lived many others.

That sounds scary. I mean I can't imagine myself fighting in the wars of the 17-18 centuries in Europe. It was so awful..., let alone the antique period

According to the BUddha and Hindus, there is a way to overcome the reincarnation...

They can avoid the reincarnation by simply reaching an eternal stage, which is named "Nirvan or Moksha", where they will stay with the god in the eternal world...

Peter: When it's comes to the Nirvana or Moksha, it's mostly related with the soul and it's has nothing to do with the body anymore.

Most of the Hindus think that the body is only a temporary host that allows the soul to stay in it, and will throw it away when they're managed to acheive the Nirvana/Moksha level...

It's bad that such people live in their other world. They forget about the real world.

I don't think so. As many of them tend to think in a more clearer and efficient way.

sure, I'm thinking of reaching this Moksha level every day :)
Isn't that stupid? These beliefs makes people not to be afraid of death, for, as I understand, Moksha level is something they strive for... This is a bad teaching, obvious contrary to the European one.

you can notice that almost every religion believes in reincarnation: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Gnosticism and others. So, there's no smoke without fire.

Some persons have sometimes the feeling they are not what they are. For example a man might feel sometimes to be a woman or have some very appropriate women feelings. I think if reincarnation is a real event, then some of the traits from previous life enter our new life.

I don't believe in reincarnation, how can a soul live in different bodies? It's a nonsense. However some people believe in this rubbish. If the soul really lives in many bodies, which is the meaning of life then? I personally wouldn't like to be a rat or a dog in the next life.

Unlike the others I believe in reincarnation. You may ask - why? There are people who after grave accidents developed strange skills, for example of knowing all the languages of the world, or reading minds, or children declared that they lived in the epoch of Pharaohs and described in details their age so that the scientists got confused.

But the confusion is solved when we understand that the reincarnation is a reality for orient religions, but a view on all the animals as the resource of meat is our occidental religion
