Name Meanings And Origins

Name meanings and origins

Postby Hakan G » 04 Aug 2008, 23:20

Hi everybody! So all of us are pretty familiar with this topic, but what about the equivalent name of a certain name, in a certain country?
This came to my mind when I was talking about name meanings with a colleague of mine from Germany. You see, my name is Hakan which means the emperor, the ruler (in Turkey); whilst in Germany the equivalent of this meaning is the name Derek, which also means - the ruler.

So I thought it would be fun to know what could've been our names if we were born in other countries.

My name is Terry. When I was a little boy, everybody used to call me Torri. I never searched for the origin of my name. What I do know is that in US the name "Terri" is mostly common for girls. That's why when I speak to an American, I firstly mention I'm a man, not a woman. :)

My name is Laurentine.
I found some interesting facts about my name.
You have the capacity to be inspirational, and the ability to lead merely by your own example. An inborn inner strength and awareness can make you an excellent teacher, social worker, philosopher, or advisor. No matter what area of work you pursue, you are very aware and sensitive to the highest sense of your environment. Your intuition is very strong;

My name is Lorry, from the numerological point of view, I can make a very fine teacher, or because of a natural inclination toward the spiritual, I may become deeply emerged in religious affairs or even psychic explorations. I tend to operate on a rather different wavelength, and many of my friends may not really know me very well.
