Hello From Los Angeles!!!

Hello from Los Angeles!!!

Postby 1980raerae » 06 Jan 2010, 18:06

Hi, my name is Rachel and I'm currently finishing up my MA in Bioarchaeology/biological anthropology at California State Univ, LA. I'm 29 years old and I am (mostly) from Italian descent, with a little Slovak and Polish thrown in for good measure :)
My family tells me that I was born on the wrong side of the Atlantic, as I love all things Italian. Perhaps that is why I chose Roman archaeology as my speciality in school, even though it is extremely difficult to find a curriculum at the MA level specializing in this.
I find the EU to be much more intersting than the US and I like to be kept up-to-date on news and events that are occuring across the pond.

Thanks,

What do you think of Italian Renaissance then?

And where are you going to work after graduating (as your speciality is at least interisting)?

I really like the Renaissance period. When I first seen the David in Firenze, it was an OMG moment for me. Same with seeing Michelangelo's work in the Vatican. Absolutely beautiful. I fear that I am not an art expert, though, so what I know of the Renaissance stems mostly from books and pictures.

I hope to teach archaeology/anthropology at the junior colleges here in the States. I also hope to be able to participate in fieldschools in Italy during the summers so I remain relevent in the field.
