Re: Sportsmen, educated people or not.

Many people work on their sport at University, where they can access good sports facilities. For example, I believe Steve Redgrave (the British Olympic rower) studied at Cambridge University (which is known for it's rowing teams). So, these athletes must be fairly educated :) Indeed, the Olympics us...

Re: Gymnastics for pregnant women, a fad or a necessity?

M.Helen, this is very interesting - thank you!

However, these exercises sound like yoga and pilates, not gymnastics. I cannot imagine a pregnant women joining a gymnastics club, and vaulting over boxes, balancing on a bar, somersaulting around the room... :)

Re: Live without TV

If you ban TV, you make it more desirable! However, I think it is good to limit TV. When I was a teenager, my parents couldn't afford a TV license, so we had no TV for around 2 years :) I had a friend who grew up with no TV at all. Having no TV is brilliant! I could do my homework each evening witho...

Re: Do you want to travel on another planet?

YES! I think every small child wants to be an astronaut or cosmonaut! It would be a dream come true :) Even to go to Star City or Kennedy Space Centre, perhaps do some of the training... The risk is part of the excitment ;-) But, yes, in reality you would want to know that there is less chance of th...

Re: How much would it cost to travel around the world?

Hey, Laurentine! I've heard of these schemes where you stay in people's homes too, and I know that the Ba'hai have a network to help people travel. Do you know of reputable websites or organisations where you can arrange to contact people?

Re: Disadvantages of online dating ??

I agree, Laurentine! It's fun to chat and flirt with guys online :-) There's no harm in it ;) I signed up to an online dating agency a couple of years ago, just out of curiosity. Some hideous men emailed me! :haha Most of them looked like criminals, and were much older than they claimed to be ...

Re: Women bodybuilding

Iulia, This is a very noble sentiment in theory. Are all women beautiful flowers? What happens to women who are not born beautiful? What about women who are bigger and stronger than men? Are they locked in their parents' cellar, where you cannot see them? :haha Most women start going to the gym to l...

Re: What dou we eat?

I never hold a diet because I look good.... but, I can say that I'm equally sure as you, that my food rations is perfect for me. The principal is to eat when you desire and what you wish
Then you are lucky that you don't desire so much food!

Re: Effects Of Divorce On Children ??

I think this is an over-generalisation, Colin. When my parents divorced, it was the happiest day of my life! I know many children of divorced parents, and none of us suffer insecurity or low self-esteem. Any trauma can make a child insecure and vulnerable. A divorce can be happy if the child knows i...

Re: What to wear on a first date ??

I agree M.Helen - it is best to look neat and tidy. All too often you see girls on a date in shoes that don't fit or a bra that keeps falling down :haha Colin, there's an episode of 'Futurama' where Bender suggests that girls should wear MORE lipstick, because men like trashy girls ;-) I have seen p...

Re: British Gas announced that it will increase gas price by 35%

I hope you will not have to waste money on firewood for heating this winter ... :-) I hope so too! The house doesn't have anywhere to make a fire! :? It's more of a problem for old people: you can be sure that their winter fuel allowance will not increase by 35% :nonnon Fortunately, we may be havin...

Also, is the qualification recognised outside of the Ukraine?

I have a Ukranian friend who works in a supermarket, because her qualifications are not recognised in the rest of Europe :nonnon

Re: American citizen opening a business in Europe?

you would almost certainly need a work visa (or visa + work permit) - you would need to check the precise requirements for the country that you intend to work in. As a tourist you can get a Schengen visa (this allows you to visit all of the Schengen Area, which covers most - but not all - of the EU)...

Re: How much would it cost to travel around the world?

You can get multi-stop or round-the-world plane tickets from travel agents like sta travel. They are normally valid for one year and priced according to the number of miles/km you intend to travel. In Europe, you can also get Interrail (train) or Eurolines (coach) passes to give unlimited travel for...

Re: British Gas announced that it will increase gas price by 35%

Good to see you again, M.Helen! I was wondering where everyone went! In the newspaper the other day, there was a report that several oil tankers are moored off the coast of Britain. Apparently they are waiting for the price of oil to rise, before they dock  Our energy companies are not nice pe...

Re: UK BEER

I should add that you may be unable to buy beer if you are age 16-18, even if you have an adult with you. Although it is legal, plenty of bars don't want to get into trouble with the police  If you look under 21 (or even under 24) they will ask you for ID, so make sure you take your passport o...

Re: The Financial Crisis and Nationalism in Europe?

In a word: yes! We have around 3 million immigrants employed in the UK. Last spring, unemployment reached 3 million. So, on the surface, we do not need any foreign labour ;-) Nationalism has been increasing even during the boom years, but was most marked in the last election. Most political parties ...

Re: The ideal ecoVillage

This is a great idea! :) For me, the house must be affordable! That means it must be cheap to buy AND cheap to maintain (e.g. good insulation, and materials that will last). The price of the house must be no more than 3x the standard graduate salary, and ideally cheaper. Solar heating and/or ground ...

Re: Lawlessness in Belarus: the EU keeps silence

Re: How should I pack my large flat screen TV?

Two points spring to mind: 1) even in bubble wrap, there is a risk of the screen being broken 2) in a couple of years, this screen will probably be obsolete If you are staying with family for any length of time, I strongly recommend just selling the screen! Your in-laws will thank you for not clutte...

Re: Something special? Unique packing tips?

Wow - you really like packaging! Get some nice business cards printed, with a link to your ebay shop and/or website. I always stick stuff like that to my fridge (Hey, you could even print a fridge magnet?!) Then, long after the invoice and packaging have been thrown away, old customers can easily fi...
