First of all you must be clear what you mean by word world. Western countries stand on pro georgian position but even they know that war started after Georgia attacked S Odetia. Still west is not whole world.

Incident on the pipeline in Turkey near to Georgian border.
Russian jets fru over conflict zone in Ossetia and Mr.Lavrovs sarcasm about hot heads in georgian government.
Soon after,begining of August: just two days before escalation, russians started tackig out of zone to the North Osetia wimen and children.
Were they informed that Georgians are planing something and/or they new the date Georgians would start?

As for rebuilding Georgian army, I am for it... Small country needs strong professional army, to feel safe from big country...

The georgian forces started to bomb Tshinval. From "the grads". The Grad is the artillery sistem that is for attac the whole aria, not particular building. the same attacs were in early 90-th. Hundreds of people were killed. The georgian commander said (live by the way) that Gerrgia started the operation ('The Clean aria') aiming to get back the territories. Georgian forces killed again and again. There are thousend of witnesses of their masacres. You dont see them on your TV. And now you say that Russia is responsible for this war? Russia shoud stay away? if Russia stay away - there won"t be any of the osetians alife today

Russians very slow for making decision to fight, but if they start to fight - they will never give up. That is why for now Russia picked geopolitical fight with USA. So, we will see, what is going to happen, but belive me - we will fight to the end.
That is why all present discussions are useless, because you discussing who is right and who is wrong. But, I think, we should discuss about future. For example - who will give up first - Russia or USA?
I think, that Russia now is stronger, than Soviet Union of "Cold War" time. Because now we dont have burden of 14 republics (Georgia, Armenia etc...). Also now we trust to president not because we was told to do so, but because we feel to do so.

After 1917 Russia became much stronger then before. After 1941 Russia became world leading power. After 1991 - will be same.

By the way, I want ask you - do you really belive, that after georgians killed 54 russian peacekeepers and woonded 200 anotherone, Russia will just sit on the ass and do nothing?
