Romani camps are to be found all over Italy. They are known as 'nomad camps', implying that their inhabitants are vagrants who do not settle in one place. Most of them are thiefs, burglars, violators, procurers, smugglers. Berlusconi's cabinet wants "to clean" Italy. But many Roma people are European citizens. In fact the Gypsy problem in Italia results from Italia's policy towards the Gypsies, and not from the "inferiority of their race."

The Romanians in Wallachia and Moldavia – alone in Europe – made the Gypsies their slaves, binding them to the soil. Torn from their nomadic way of life, the Gypsies were forced to put down roots on the land of their masters. Like the black slaves in America, free people were turned into workhorses – albeit rational ones. For centuries they could be bought and sold. Families were torn apart, children separated from their mothers, women from their men folk. Young women were regularly raped by their masters, and the so-called 'crow-scum' was the target of widespread contempt and discrimination. One voivode, or provincial governor, would have them climb trees then shoot them down with arrows. Hunting crows, he called it. Tied to localities and kept like animals, the Gypsies in the Romanian principalities multiplied faster than anywhere else in Europe. Forced to become sedentary and till the soil, the Gypsies forgot their traditional occupations. They were now no longer boiler makers, goldsmiths, minstrels, bear trainers, silversmiths, etc. Like all slaves they became lazy, indolent farm laborers. They became cowardly, garrulous, drunken and quarrelsome, filled with vice and infirmity. This is the eternal lot of all slaves throughout the world. The hot-blooded youths rebelled against this state of things, stealing horses, robbing, counterfeiting, raping and murdering. The young Romanian serfs acted no differently: they joined the Hajduci and became highwaymen.
In the wake of 1848, enthusiasm gripped the new, pro-Western Romanian elite. Not for the first time, philanthropy paved the way for horrendous catastrophe. Assembled before the estates of hundreds of enlightened boyars, the Gypsy slaves were told: "Brothers, you are free! Go where your feet take you."
This "slave liberation," without the slightest logistical or psychological preparation, wreaked unthinkable havoc. Hundreds of thousands of Gypsies were suddenly free to die of hunger. With no money, clothing or livelihood, without a belief or a culture – with nothing but their naked humanity, they soon populated the prisons en masse. No one knows how many perished at the time from so much freedom, or how many have died until today as a result.

Italy should be carefull about gypsies because of WW2. Italy, Germany and Japan must be more carefull about similar issues then rest of the world.

Yeah really, that's right, who knows how menu gypsie have come to serbia and beyng "intergrated" mixed blod in meriages for extending serb population so in the future they rush in naghbourin countryes with similar tradition, murder, stilling, burgling, rap an burn wot they cant take with them, just like in Kosova-Republik the serbs did juring the wars!

I’m against the term “Rom” or “Roma”, because they are not originals from the city of Rome, they are not the inheritors of the Roman empire. They are not even Rumanians, a brave people from Balkans, they are only gypsies, zingari, gitanes, gitanos, zigeuner, tsiganes, etc,…a nomadic people from Punjab (north-western India).
As the Americans slaves, the gypsy from Romania was released in the past without help and support from the authorities. You can see the result today! I’ve heard that the communist regime tried to settle them, built houses for them, made them papers, gave them rights, jobs,… but after 90’s most of them became nomads, sold their houses and fled over Italy and others Western countries. They went back in Romania with dirty money and built luxurious Disneyland’s palaces with towers like Albanians from Europe did in Kosovo. We must integrate gypsies in our civilization in some way (give them school, medicine, hospital, specific jobs, etc) because they are humans, not animals. And police have to be careful and stop the criminality. It’s a very difficult process for all European countries. Do you propose “decontamination”? You can't say a damn about Kosovars, becausse the kosovar-Albanians was the first nation in the worlld to give to cigojna(roma) scull and education, even before the serbian invasion in kosova provoking the dirty war!
Serbs instantly and systematicly was arming cigojna as a provokativ paramilitar anti-albanian in kosova juring the war.
Even Albanians have social-human opinion about cigojna and newer made any represion against them,
even if we want, we coulld't do that because we was under represion from brutal serb-regim anyway,
but if we take one other example from our reall brothers Albania, they have fev cigojna and they were

I do not like Gypsy, Romanian, Serbian, Albanian or any folk music. I just do not like it (I do not hate it), but I love people. Every one is the novel wich is better than any novel that won the nobel price. The EU parliament discuss the gypsy problem in Italy, they are concerned about the Italian events and they express disapproval of this kind of reactions against a minority with european citizenship. Italy have to be vigilant today because in the past they had a fascist regime.
