Is Body-building Unhealthy?

Is body-building unhealthy?

Postby Faw_Peter » 22 May 2008, 10:38

I want to begin practicing body-building, but all of my friends and relatives say it is not healthy, ‘cause I exhaust my organism. Anybody, considerations?

If you begin body-building, you should first of all read some materials and instructions(there are a lot of them on the web) :-) ,aslo talk with someone that is practising body-building for several years, ask him about his programm :) The body-building is unhelathy only if you are practising it wrongly,if you don't eat, rest and train right. ;-)

You should definitely consult a doctor before you start training in body-building.
If someone have spine problems for example it is not recommended for him to pull heavy weights.
Some yoga or pilates exercise will be more beneficial in this case.
Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible.

peter, did you know that body-building is not a sport, it is a way to destroy your health. Take a look at Schwarzenegger, if he was poor, he would die because about 3 expensive surgeries have been made to his heart.

I use to run each morning about 6 kilometre, I feel very good. Terry that's a nice advice. However before begin running you should consult a doctor or a specialist who can estimate your health and sugget you the exact distance you must run

don't be too naive! You're an adult, so you must feel how much you should run. If you're a biginner, the first distance to run should be about 1 kilometre. Each week this distance can be increased by 500 metres. Tested on me! :)

I don't find body-builders attractive - light, lean muscle is better. The hottest guys I know are in my Kickboxing class  or do manual work, such as blacksmithing or doing conservation work on weekends. There's actually a "Green Gym" initiative, where you work outdoors for a Conservation Trust one day a week 8-)

Here is a site about Green Gyms: http://www2.btcv.org.uk/display/greengym
Essentially, you just volunteer to do work  But it can be fun: laying footpaths, planting trees, etc.

wow, so are there really volunteers wishing to do these jobs? Well-done for them. You kill two rabbits - improve your physical condition and help the environment. :super

It depend on what you are calling bodybuilding.

professional BB is unhealthy only, like any other professional sport. Proper training and wise use of small doses of steroids will never make you unhealthy.

steroids must be totally avoided! They will harm your sexual power!

There is no reason to do that, why, because it is beautiful?, no it is not beautiful, it is exaggerated beauty because it is not natural, they are using doping, some proteins which are not good for the organism. It is better to go to a force hall.
