Avoid fizzy drinks
You like to drink juice or tea with ice and, after to eat the ice debris from cup? Although it can be fun, is not really recommended for your teeth. Ice chewing can cause cracks in the teeth, and these cracks can turn into bigger problems in time. If you feel the need to chew something, opt for something healthier, both for your teeth and whole body, such as carrots. Also shredding grains of popcorn or candy can have the same effect on teeth. To sip the carbonated beverages for a long time is not recommended by experts also. Exposure to fizzy drinks and sweets, favors the appearance of cavities. To reduce harmful effects on teeth, use a straw.

Do not use teeth as a bottle opener!
According to dentists, more people use their teeth in various actions that can harm: to open bottles, to break packs or to straighten the teeth of a fork. Using the teeth in such activities can have a traumatic effect on them, causing cracks and even hole. Think about the consequences before you use your teeth as tools!

Bruxism
This habit is bad for teeth and can be caused by stress and anxiety. May be, and a reaction of the body when teeth do not align and are not positioned correctly (problems of occlusion). Bruxism can be and one of the symptoms of certain rare neuromuscular disease that affects the face. Rubbing can lead to bluntness of the tooth enamel, dentine exposure, thereby forming sensitivity to their level. Bruxism is associated with severe jaw problems, facial pain and headaches in the morning.
If it is caused by stress, your dentist may recommend you go to a psychologist or try various methods of relaxation. He may prescribe a medicamet to relax muscles and reduce jaw spasms. If dental problems are the cause of this disease, your dentist will fix your teeth and may recommend to use Vacuum formed.

Opt for a soft bristled toothbrush
Although many believe that brush must be as firm for a better cleaning, this is totally false, especially for adults with an advanced age. With the passing years, gums and teeth are withdraw, leaving the roots exposed, which can give sensitivity. Tooth root is covered with a layer of cement that can be removed more easily than enamel. A hard brush can easily remove the cement and can irritate the gums. Ask your doctor to recommend you a toothbrush depending on your oral health.

Conducting a proper brushing
Experts recommend that brushing teeth to be made at least twice a day and brush must be changed once every 3-4 months. Also be used floss daily. If you do not know if you use it in a right way, ask your doctor for some advices on its use. Dental practitioners argue that a large number of people do not use floss properly. Do not forget the mouthwash because its use can significantly reduce the number of bacteria that cause gum disease.
Aggressive teeth brushing and eating foods and fizzy drinks are among the main causes of tooth sensitivity.

Do not forget!
Try to reduce consumption of fizzy drinks and opt for alkaline products that neutralizes acids (milk, cheese or other dairy products). Use straw to sip the juice, in this way you can keep remotely teeth from acids;
Chew sugarless gum after every meal. This stimulates production of saliva, which neutralizes the acid in the mouth. Water consumption may also help. Water rinse the teeth and reduces the amount of acid in the mouth;

The effects of green tea on tooth health and the periodontiu

Postby Faw_Peter » 16 Jan 2010, 14:23

Researchers at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan, recently presented in the "Journal of Periodontology " the positive effects of the green tea for the mouth. Used in Asian culture for over 4000 years, green tea is becoming increasingly used in Western countries. Its popularity has grown largely because of its use in the composition of soft drinks and promotion in media of its antioxidant effects. While Japanese and Chinese traditional medicine recommends green tea consumption as universal panacea, current scientific studies highlight specific health benefits especially in the prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease and weight loss.

Were examined three indicators of periodontal disease (periodontal pockets depth, clinical attachment loss and bleeding on probing) suggesting an inflammatory response to bacteria in the oral cavity. Researchers have observed that for each cup of green tea per day was a decrease of the three indices, which translates as a lower frequency of periodontal disease to those subjects. This feature can be attributed to the presence of green tea antioxidant called catechins.

Green tea's beneficial effects occurs not only at periodontal level but also at halting dental cavity lesions, by release of fluoride.
Physicians recommends consumption of three cups of green tea per day and, similar effects have white tea, black, oolong and pu'erh, derived from the same plant Camellia sinensis. In contrast with these, in the case of green tea, the natural process of fermentation is off technology.
