telephone, transistor, light bulb...
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

The Mechanical Clock.
Before this invention, time was inseparable from events, the main one being the Sun crossing the sky.
In a clock-driven world, most of us are now either "on time," "ahead of schedule," or "running late."

The Toilet and Modern Plumbing. Can we imagine such a big city like Paris without toilets? I don't think so. It would be impossible to raise skyscrapers without toilets, since everybody would have to go down and make their deeds!

Antibiotics. Millions of people died because of infections until antibiotics were discovered. Three When the plague broke out in 1347, it killed nearly half of Europe in about two years. Antibiotics is a very useful discovery. Yes, I know it damages instead other organs, but it treats the disease which could kill you in few days.

Television: it swallows the attention of everybody in a room. It changes our way of behaviour, even if we don't notice that.

Cars are obviously a perfect invention. When they appeared the roads improved, when the roads improved the cities improved. Oil industry appeared due to apparition of cars.

Computer is probably the greatest invention ever. It can do anything. Thanks to such personalities as Bill Gates, we supply it with good software that makes our lives perfect.

I would include in the category of the greatest inventions - the gun powder. It changed the world radically after it began to be used in wars. It's a great invention, but at the same time, one may say it killed so many human lives. Yes, that's also correct.

I would probably choose the lights, television and telephone...

Still, I know there are many other great inventions as well.

air conditioner became an important part of our life, am not sure if it fits into the 100 greatest human inventions, but, imagine a life without conditioners during the summer in Italy or Greece....
It would make these countries regress to Africa's level.
