I think that they will never be part of EU, but they should be.

what would be the advantages of their joining? I don't think they can contribute to the European Union. They have their own history, own customs and habits which are different from the European ones.

There is now Mediterrania union which is roughly under Justinians borders of Bizantine. I just foundout that Sarcozi initiated this union, and it supports my theory of secondary spreading of EU.

It consists of all the EU member states + the Euromediteraneean countries. The purpose of the union is to establish relations between Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

yes, I found the information now. I also read it was estalished by the French president. But why is that? Why he was the one interested in creating this union.

Because French is the main power in the Mediterranean area so it has to keep everything under control

yes, it certainly is. I like Sarkozy's approach. He can easily find the golden middle of any relationship so he can back both parties.

Well, seems like the illegal immigrants are better stay in their own country, than trying their luck by illegally trespassing to the EU borders...

Illegal immigrants have now many things to lose. That's because of the financial crisis. The European currency is depreciating and the remittance's value is going down as well. Thus, the purchasing power of Euro is not the one that used to be before.

they are not treating them like cattle..who told you that...

i support stricter laws on illegal immigration, and to promote legal immigration....EU embasies abroad..common EU immigration policy....EU blue card....allowing illegals, you also allow human trafficking, drug trafficking, gun trafficking...they could be HIV possitive or carrying other diseases into Europe.....we must control our borders, but allow immigration through legal procedures and attract skilled workforce...we are way behind america australia and canada in skilled immigrant workforce, and we are loosing out...how many jobs for unskilled or low skilled can we create to absorve all of them...??
we fear what we do not understand,we fear the uknown,we fear what is different from us....but our greatest fear is yet unavoidable...so why do we need all others....??

With regards to the original idea of this thread:

Controlling illegal immigrants is one thing. And let's assume a country is so skilled and talented as to keep them out..
What do you do with the illegal immigrants that are dumped into the Aegean for a Greek ship to pick them up and then Greece gets to keep them as refugees?

From illegal immigrants they become refugees.
How about that?
For a brief moment it seemed like Rock n' Roll would inherit the Earth..

Refugees are at least subject to medical control and they are officially registered. That is an obvious advantage. Having illegal immigrants in a country is not good because this creates misbalance in the economy and makes the statistics show things wrong.
