The Most Expensive Foods

The most expensive foods

Postby Laurentine » 24 Aug 2009, 22:15

Do you know which are the most expensive in the world meals: may be shrimp, caviar or sushi?
I heard about the most expensive bread in the world that cost almost $ 20 and can be bought from a bakery in France. It is rumored that in 1994 a woman saw the image of the Virgin Mary on a slice of this bread, and after he kept it for 10 years and not musty at all, sold it for $ 28,000!

Saffron, a spice grown worldwide, is derived from the saffron crocus flower. A pound of dry saffron (0.45 kg) requires 50,000–75,000 flowers to make, meaning an entire football field of these flowers. Requiring so much resources and labor, prices for the spice go around US$500/pound to US$5,000/pound (US$1100–US$11,000 per kilogram).

The world's most expensive caviar is a type of Iranian beluga called Almas. Pale amber in color, it comes from sturgeons that are between 60 and 100 years old. A 3.9-pound container will set you back $48,750.

The world's most luxurious pizza cost 1000 dollars, that is ... $ 250 for a slice. Why? One can decorate with neither more nor less than 6 types of caviar, lobster, cream cheese and chives. PS: be ordered in advance ..

Grand Opulance Sundae, that opulent mega ice cream, I get "rid" of 1000 dollars, but your taste buds will enjoy a dessert made of vanilla ice cream decorated with gold leaves 24 karat, and with a syrup from the most expensive chocolate. Finally, ice cream is filled with truffles and caviar for dessert.
May I have the gold leaves ;)

And for what those golden leaves if can not eat them? For addition to the price? How much money I would have, I would not buy this dessert. For $ 1,000 I can buy 24 karat of gold and will still remain money not only for one ice cream but for a refrigerator. :)

There are a breed of mushrooms that are very expensive, and this is because of their rarity. It costs 1000$.
In a restaurant the most expensive food from the menu was omelet which costs 1000$, it is composed by Yukon Gold potatoes, eggs, lobster and rose sauce. But its the caviar on top that costs the most.

This must be the best delicacy I have read about in this forum, I believe it would cost this much since it consist more of natural flavor than this artificial items. Recently many people are looking up on what they eat and are ready to pay for more dollars to get the right delicacies that are natural.
