I have to write a 1200 word chemistry paper about a chemical compound that affects our environment and I have no idea what compound to use. Any suggestions?

carbon dioxide seems like an obvios one..
or maybe CFC's [chlorofluorocarbons]
these [haloalkanes] cause 'holes' in the ozone layer that let harmfull uv rays in and cause skin cancer.
