Solar Pensions

Solar pensions

Postby Nicholas » 31 Aug 2008, 21:07

I heard from a friend of mine, from Germany, that the pensioners who are installing solar panels on their roofs and who support all the cost of the installations, will receive a special solar pension. Is that true?

Yes that is true. But the question is why other countries aren’t implementing the same stimulating solutions?
I imagine that they are very effective. You get money for, basically, saving them.

wow, now that's a news for me. This sounds like a really modern measure taken by the government. But, Nicholas, the question is not the one you mentioned. There is another one, more significant - how much such an installation costs? On average pensioners receive their pension for 15 years. Do these pension cover the expenses made for equipping the roof?

well I mentioned the average of 15 years, because I suppose they live about 75-80 (retirement age 60+ 15)

It also depends on how much do these solar panels cost.

they must be expensive. These devices are not common TV sets that can be bought in any shop.

You are right, Helen. Their cost is somewhere between 7-10k Euros for the basic installation, and going up for more powerful ones.

7-10 thousand? You must be joking, where can a pensioner take this money from?

In Germany, this sum of money is spent by pensioners per each month during a winter season.

Pensioners from western European countries can easily afford buying such solar installations. Western countries have a real good social payment system. When one retires, he gets quite high benefits from the state.

sure, it's a kind of paint that coverts solar energy into electricity. But I think it's not yet used widely.

it's a very difficult process. But if you understand how solar energy is used then it's the same.

So does this mean that you only have to paint a door and it will transform the solar emery in electricity?
Because this is something unbelievable, there must be some cables in order to conserve the energy produced..

In US there is a company called Solar City.
They install solar panels in a way that when the owner does not use electricity the device redirects io to the city electric network so that during the night when the person needs electricity he can take it back from the network.

I imagine the future houses being built with walls with built-in solar panels. The house could automatically receive solar energy and use it during the day and at nights it could store, if necessary.
