Global warming is caused by excess CO2 levels getting trapped in our atmosphere, which is trapping heat in our atmosphere. This warmer temperature does cause hurricanes to become larger and more powerful, because they thrive on warm, tropical air. I don't know about tornadoes though. Also, it causes the ice to melt, which will cause the water levels to rise. If the global temperature rose 8 degrees, the water would rise 30 above the current sea levels. It would wipe out places such as Bangaldesh.
