What is the most common language used in business in the EU, other than English?

Note, I'm not asking what is the most commonly spoken language by population, other than English. I am asking what is the most common language used in business situations other than English.

Just wanted to clarify: Many have answered with a variety of the most commonly spoken languages in Europe (ie: German, French, Spanish). I want to know *the* (one answer only) most commonly used language, other than English, used in *business situations* in Europe. Thanks again.

Spanish, Chinese and Japanese, followed by French.

I would think that it would be French and German as those are the two most powerful countries on the main continent.

Besides... several countries in Europe do speak those two languages.

My guess would still be spanish.

The most common language spoken in business in the EU (in the rest of the non EU Europe, as well), other than English - is GERMAN.

Probably not easy to answer, since English is *the* international business language within the EU. French might be second for international business communication with French speakers (who often insist on using French); German might have some clout in international business communicationn Central and Eastern Europe

The most widely spoken language in business environments are French,German,Swedish,Swiss and Dutch.
